Meeting on the Impact of COVID-19 on Indigenous Peoples in Africa Held in March

The Chairperson of the Working Group on Indigenous Populations/Communities and Minorities in Africa and the Committee on the Protection of the Rights of People Living with HIV and Those at Risk, Vulnerable to and Affected by HIV, organized a meeting on the validation of the study on the impact of COVID-19 on indigenous people sin Africa. The meeting took place in Freetown, Sierra Leone from 14-15 March, 2024.

The meeting aimed to enrich and enhance the study carried out on the impact of COVID-19 on indigenous communities in Africa, and at formulating recommendations on strengthening responses to future public health crises among indigenous populations. The meeting also offered participants to provide their feedback on the results of the study.

The meeting was attended by commissioners of African Commission working groups and expert members, independent experts, and staff of the African Commission Secretariat.
