OSCE High Commissioner Promotes Regional Cooperation on National Minority Issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, Kairat Abdrakhmanov, recently attended a Regional Conference in Sarajevo, that focused on cooperation regarding national minority issues in South-Eastern Europe. The event brought together representatives from national minorities and government authorities to discuss good governance, exchange experiences, and address challenges related to integrating diverse societies. Hosted by Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Human Rights and Refugees Ministry in collaboration with the OSCE High Commissioner and the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the conference aimed to foster regional cooperation and understanding on these important issues. In his statement, Mr. Abdrakhmanov emphasized the importance of seizing opportunities for collaboration, stating, “Cooperation is our language.” He expressed hope that such meetings would become regular occurrences, promoting a new era of understanding and cooperation in the region. During his visit, the High Commissioner also met with government officials, including Minister Sevlid Hurtić, as well as national minority representatives and civil society organizations.
